Qualcomm Reports Continued Revenue Growth, Focuses on Cross-Field Business Development

Qualcomm has released its Q2 fiscal 2025 financial results, reporting revenue of $10.836 billion and net income of $2.81 billion. The company indicated that it will continue to expand its cross-field business development in response to evolving market dynamics.

Qualcomm Revenue Growth Chart

In this revenue, Qualcomm Technologies generated $9.469 billion, with mobile business accounting for $6.929 billion, automotive for $959 million, IoT for $1.581 billion, and licensing for $1.319 billion. Qualcomm's core business remains focused on mobile and communication chips, continuing partnerships with major brands like Samsung, resulting in a competitive edge in global chip shipments. However, its relationship with Apple may shift due to the imminent release of Apple's first in-house 5G chip, the Apple C1. Additionally, Chinese smartphone brands are increasingly collaborating with MediaTek, leading some product lines to switch to MediaTek processors, prompting Qualcomm to explore more diverse business development models.

For instance, Qualcomm plans to expand its IoT and connected vehicle applications. Recently, Qualcomm has been strengthening partnerships with automakers and, within the industrial IoT space, announced the launch of the Dragonwing brand based on Snapdragon technology. Furthermore, leveraging NUVIA technology resources will enhance custom architecture design aimed at increasing processor capabilities, while actively promoting the development of Windows on Snapdragon laptops, preparing for the future business evolution.

Regarding its prior litigation with Arm, the US court ruled Qualcomm's licensing was valid and justified, leading Arm to withdraw its previous allegations against Qualcomm regarding improper use of instruction set licensing. Qualcomm has filed documents with the EU Commission, the US Federal Trade Commission, and the Korea Fair Trade Commission, alleging Arm's monopolistic practices using its market position. Arm has not responded to these claims and has stated intentions to appeal the ruling, explaining that Qualcomm's actions are to protect its own interests.
