Net Zero Emissions Should Not Affect Labor Rights! Academia and Labor Unions Launch First 'Just Transition' Educational Material in Taiwan

Academia, environmental groups, and labor unions have collaborated to produce Taiwan's first just transition educational material aimed at enhancing union awareness and protection for workers amid the push for net-zero emissions by 2050. This educational resource was officially launched online on April 29.
Amidst the government’s net-zero emissions policy, it has been found that a significant number of labor unions lack understanding of these issues. The core idea of this material is to ensure that the rights of all workers are not overlooked during the transition process. Surveys indicate that approximately 76% of companies have not interacted with labor unions regarding the impacts of net-zero emissions.
The aim of this educational resource is to fill the information gap that unions may overlook during the transition, ensuring that all workers, whether unionized or not, receive appropriate protections to prevent past tragedies from repeating.
