NVIDIA H20 Faces Regulation, Wistron Stock Rises Amid Risks Revealed by Analysts

Following President Donald Trump’s announcement of regulations on NVIDIA's H20 chip, the company saw its operations affected, registering related costs of $5.5 billion in Q1.

Wistron (3231), the sole supplier of the H20 substrate, experienced a notable 4.48% increase in its stock price on the 18th, surpassing the $100 mark to close at $105. Senior analyst Chen Ronghua noted that, although the H20 chip may be impacted by the U.S. ban, Wistron's main revenue still comes from NVIDIA's high-end chips H100 and H200, allowing them to potentially compensate for sales losses by increasing high-value substrate sales.

However, Chen emphasized two major risks. The first is the uncertainty of U.S. policies; any expansion of restrictions on AI chips could negatively impact Wistron’s revenue. The second is whether the demand for consumer electronics will recover, as U.S. tariff policies might indirectly affect Wistron's laptops and monitors business.
