Taipei Fubon Bank to Close 10 Branches in Largest Adjustment Ever Starting August

Taipei Fubon Bank announced today (November 11) that due to overlapping branches with Jih Sun Bank and in consideration of service efficiency, 10 branches across Taiwan will halt operations in two phases starting in August, with business transferred to nearby branches. This marks the largest scale branch adjustment since Fubon Bank acquired Jih Sun Bank in April 2023.

According to the announcement, the first batch of 5 branches will cease operations on August 11, including: County Government Branch, Nanyuanlin Branch, Dongxin Ying Branch, Qianjin Branch, and Pingnan Branch. The second batch of 5 branches will stop operations on August 18, including: Xiaojudan Branch, Jiantan Branch, Songde Branch, Jincheng Branch, and Guangfu Branch.

Fubon Bank indicated that all 10 branches are former Jih Sun branches, and after consolidation, operations will be taken over by the nearby branches, retaining their original licenses. After August, the total number of Fubon branches will remain at 179, ensuring that overall service capacity is not compromised.

Regarding account handling, Fubon Bank clarified that customer accounts opened at the halting branches will be transferred to the receiving branches, with account numbers, debit cards, passbooks, checkbooks, fiduciary accounts, and gold passbooks still usable without the need to reapply. The only change will be that branch names and payment codes within the system will update to reflect the new receiving branches when processing transfers or deposits.

Additionally, for individuals with accounts related to Fubon Securities or Fubon Futures, the relevant account configurations, automatic fee deduction services, and other rights will also be transferred along with the account data, ensuring there is no impact. Fubon Bank also encourages customers to utilize digital channels such as online banking, mobile banking, and phone banking for convenient access to banking services.

In terms of overall operation strategy, Fubon Bank stated that it will continue to strengthen its market share in six major cities and enhance coverage in peripheral areas through branch consolidation to achieve optimal branch configuration. After the adjustment, the proportion of branches in the southern region will increase from 28% to 30%, and several central and southern branches will undergo internal location adjustments to meet regional development and business needs.

Fubon Bank reminds users that any future notifications will be communicated through official letters or website announcements, and it will not solicit account information via phone or SMS. If customers receive suspicious messages, they are advised to call the customer service hotline at (02) 8751-6665 for verification to ensure the security of their accounts.
