New Taiwan Dollar Recovers to 29-Head, Taiwan Stocks Drop 254 Points

Today (5th), Taiwan stocks opened high but fell low, dropping as much as 466 points during the session before rebounding after testing the 5-day moving average. They closed at 20532 points, down 254 points, with a trading volume of NT$387 billion. The OTC index closed at 219.39 points, down 4.5 points, a decline of 2.01%.
In the electronics sector, TSMC (2330) closed at NT$938, down NT$12, a drop of 1.26%. Hon Hai (2317) closed at NT$142.5, down NT$5, a decline of 3.39%. MediaTek (2454) also saw a slight drop, ending at NT$1295, down NT$5, a decline of 0.38%.
At midday, the New Taiwan Dollar was at NT$29.95, appreciating NT$1.114, an increase of 3.59%. Thanks to the strong appreciation of the Taiwanese dollar, asset, construction, and domestic demand stocks performed robustly, with companies like Taifung (2102), Yi Hua (1456), Fu Shou (1219), Jing Cheng (2524), Nan Fang (1440), Tai Huo (9902), and Da Jiang (1453) all hitting the upper limit, closing at NT$20.35, NT$14.85, NT$16.55, NT$57.4, NT$14.5, NT$15.75, and NT$15.85 respectively.
The Formosa Plastics Group also performed well, with Formosa Petrochemical (6505) closing at NT$38, rising NT$38, increasing by 6%. Formosa Chemicals (1326) closed at NT$26.2, up NT$1.2, an increase of 4.8%. Formosa Plastics (1301) closed at NT$36.1, up NT$1.3, an increase of 3.74%. Nan Ya (1303) closed at NT$31.6, up NT$0.75, an increase of 2.43%.
Furthermore, the appreciation of the Taiwan Dollar also stimulated the tourism industry, with airline stocks performing brightly. Taiwan Tigerair (6757) hit the upper limit, closing at NT$94.4, up NT$8.5. Evergreen Aviation (2618) closed at NT$41.15, up NT$2.15, increasing by 5.51%. China Airlines (2610) and StarLux Airlines (2646) also saw increases of over 3%; tourism stocks also benefited, with companies like Cihang Travel (2719) and Yfly (2734) also reaching the upper limit, closing at NT$36.5 and NT$21.1 respectively.
