Apple Shifts Most US-Bound iPhone Production from China

Apple has announced plans to move much of its iPhone and other device production intended for the US market out of China in response to President Donald Trump's tariff policy.

CEO Tim Cook stated that in the coming months, most iPhones sold in the US will be manufactured in India, while Vietnam will become a major production center for products like iPads and Apple Watches.

This shift comes as Apple estimates that US import taxes could increase costs by about $900 million this quarter, although Trump has decided to exempt certain electronic products from new tariffs.

During a recent conference call with investors, Cook emphasized Apple’s investment plans in the US, with a goal of investing $500 billion across several states over the next four years.

Cook noted that India and Vietnam will benefit significantly from this transition, while China remains the origin for most products sold outside the US.

Despite the Trump administration's push for businesses to shift production back to America, Apple’s sales remain stable. Revenue for the first three months of this year rose 5% year-over-year to $95.4 billion.

Industry experts believe this change demonstrates Apple's significant progress in responding to global trade challenges.
