NTD Hits 29 TWD Mark as USD Exchange Falls Over 1 NTD

The surge of the New Taiwan Dollar (NTD) continues! Today, the NTD opened at TWD 30.91 against the USD in the Taipei foreign exchange market, gaining 1.54 jiao immediately after opening and continuing to rise. Following a 3.07% increase the previous day, the NTD quickly expanded its gains to over 1 NTD within just 15 minutes of opening, hovering around the 29 NTD mark. As of 10:22 AM, it reached a maximum appreciation of 1.1474 NTD, peaking at 29.59 NTD, the highest level since June 2022.
Before the release of the US exchange rate report, market expectations for the NTD's appreciation continued to heat up, supported by foreign capital inflow and panicked selling from exporters. The NTD gained 1.247 NTD during the previous day's trading, marking the largest intraday appreciation since the Central Bank started tracking in 2002. The NTD closed against the USD at 31.064 NTD, a significant appreciation of 9.53 jiao, with a daily increase of 3.07%, marking the largest single-day rise since 2002, making it the strongest currency in Asia for the day. Today's market enthusiasm remains high, with the NTD breaking through the 30 NTD barrier shortly after opening and rising by over 1 NTD within 15 minutes, with a peak of 29.925 NTD.
