Taiwan Stocks Surge by 552 Points as New Taiwan Dollar Soars, 'This Type of Stock' Emerges as Big Winner

Today (2nd), Taiwan's stock market closed at a record high of 20787 points, up 552 points, with a trading volume of NT$326.6 billion. The OTC index finished at 223.89 points, gaining 3.91 points. A total of 1702 listed companies rose today, with 49 hitting the limit-up.
In electronic major stocks, TSMC (2330) closed at a high of NT$950, gaining NT$42 or 4.63%. Hon Hai (2317) finished at NT$147.5, up NT$6, or 4.24%. MediaTek (2454) closed at NT$1300, down NT$50 or 3.7%.
AI concept stocks performed impressively today, with Quanta Computer (2382) closing at NT$251, up 5.24%. Wiwynn (6669) ended at NT$2065, gaining NT$155 or 8.12%. Wistron (3231) closed at NT$105.5, up NT$4 or 3.94%, while Gigabyte (2376) finished at NT$236, increasing by NT$7.5 or 3.28%.
The BBU group also saw a rise in both price and volume, with Shun Sin (4931) and Hsin Eng (6558) hitting the limit-up, reaching NT$91.1 and NT$55 respectively, trading volumes ranked at 3rd and 7th. Ravi Electronics (8104) and Capstone (3323) also surged to the limit-up, with prices of NT$37.4 and NT$31.8.
At the same time, the New Taiwan Dollar also appreciated, with a midday exchange rate of NT$31.394, rising by 6.26 cents and a transaction amount of USD 1.492 billion. At one point during the session, it rose by 8.8 cents to NT$31.14, setting a new low in nearly 16 months and marking the largest intraday increase.
Benefiting from the strong increase of the New Taiwan Dollar, several previously dormant assets also hit the limit-up, including Nan Fang (1440), Tai Fertilizer (1722), Taiwan Power (9902), Sun Yao (1316), Shih Paper (1903), Chien Cheng (2524), and Shih Electric (1503).
Other sectors with capital inflow included PCB-related, heavy electrical, robotics concept stocks, heat dissipation, and Sun Yao Group.
