Taiwanese OEMs Expand to the U.S., Investing Millions to Join 'American Manufacturing' Movement

In response to the impact of Trump’s tariffs, various Taiwanese OEMs are making strides to establish operations in the United States. Texas has emerged as a primary location for these firms, with major investment announcements from companies like Inventec. The firm plans to invest over $85 million to set up a server manufacturing base in Texas. Other companies, including Foxconn and Wistron, are also making Texas their home to mitigate tariff impacts. Inventec's chairman, Lye Li-cheng, has indicated that they are keen to prepare for future trends in AI computing.

In addition, Wistron intends to establish its first plant in Texas, with a capital expenditure of approximately $6 billion. Foxconn has also set up operations in Houston while Quanta continues to evaluate expansion plans in North America.
