High School Graduates Can Join TSMC with Salaries Exceeding 750K NTD, Assigned to Overseas Plants

TSMC is reaching out to high school graduates! Those with a TOEIC score of 660 or higher can earn an average salary of over 750,000 NTD. New hires will undergo training in Taiwan before being dispatched to overseas plants for at least two years. Concerns have been raised that this may be linked to facilities in Arizona, USA, where foreign workers typically cannot handle long working hours or night shifts, prompting TSMC to cultivate local talent. Their official website lists positions like Technical Staff with English proficiency, indicating that even liberal arts graduates can step into TSMC's doors.

The entry requirement is a high school graduation, but candidates must possess at least a TOEIC score of 660. The job involves translation tasks and serving as a communication bridge between local staff, alongside other online responsibilities. The position requires working in a 4-shift schedule, totaling ten hours a day. While salaries range from NTD 32,000 to 43,000, concerns linger about whether this is sufficient for overseas conditions, as many believe that overseas positions may come with additional allowances.

TSMC's recruitment information also mentions bonuses from profit-sharing and translation training awards, with an average annual salary of 750,000 NTD, which amounts to roughly 62,500 NTD each month. However, candidates must note that the first one to two years include required training at a designated plant before relocating to positions abroad. Semiconductor expert Chi Chien-Chung remarked that it is challenging to find talent in the U.S. for just 1,000 USD, making the costs for TSMC in Taiwan significantly higher. This recruitment initiative offers opportunities for liberal arts graduates, but job seekers will need to carefully assess if the salary aligns with expectations.
