Tariff War Impacts Taiwanese Industry, Expected Price Hike for Electronics

According to a survey by 1111 Job Bank, nearly 90% of employees believe that the tariff war significantly affects the Taiwanese industry, extending even to their daily work. This year, 37.5% have confirmed there will be no salary increase, and 33.9% are hesitant to change jobs. Trump's tariff policies are inflating costs in the high-tech sector, leading to anticipated price hikes for electronic products.

The survey indicates that 75% of employees have already experienced price increases on certain items, with the most common being breakfast shop items (63.4%), bento boxes (61.5%), and essential food items (53.8%). Rising prices have prompted 64.2% to adjust their lifestyles, often opting for discounted items or reducing the frequency of dining out.

1111 Job Bank’s PR manager, Tseng Chung-Wei, noted that the tariff war causes local SMEs to view economic conditions more conservatively. The survey results reveal that many are choosing cheaper options for daily meals in response to rising prices.
