Quanta's Lin Bai-li Compares Tariffs to 'Head Chef': Unafraid of Challenges

At Quanta's 37th anniversary celebration, Chairman Lin Bai-li addressed the U.S. tariff trade war, stating that the company has proactively positioned itself, proposing a 'head chef' business model to demonstrate global manufacturing resilience. He expressed confidence in the ability to adapt resources across nine factories worldwide, asserting that they can respond to any customer requests for production relocation. Lin also noted that orders are exceeding last year's expectations, projecting optimism for the future.
Lin emphasized that orders from technology giants remain stable, countering market rumors to the contrary, and confirmed that this year's order volume is even higher than last year. Regarding the impact of U.S. tariffs, he stated that customers should bear the cost, not suppliers.
On the topic of AI development, Lin pointed out that it is still in the second phase of 'generative AI' and emphasized that Quanta plans to invest in independent R&D to move beyond the contract manufacturing model.
