Taiwan Wage Ranking Revealed! Pilots Earn 320K NT$ Monthly, Surpassing Doctors and Lawyers

In the current job market, salary levels across various industries continue to be a focal point of public attention. According to the Ministry of Labor's salary survey released on May 29, aviation pilots earn a monthly salary of NT$323,000 (annual salary NT$3.638 million) to secure the top position across all professions, followed closely by actuaries and doctors, each earning over NT$180,000 monthly.
The wage survey conducted by the Ministry of Labor in August of the 113th year calculated statistics including the number of full-time employees across various job categories (including foreign migrant workers but excluding employers, self-employed individuals, unpaid family workers, and part-time workers) and the average monthly salary per person in July, as well as the average salary income for the entire previous year, yielding valid samples from 9,953 establishments.
The results indicate that, in addition to pilots who achieve an annual salary of NT$3.638 million, actuaries follow closely with an annual salary of NT$3.625 million, while doctors rank third with an annual salary of NT$2.524 million. Other high-paying professions include marine regulatory personnel (including pilots) at NT$1.732 million, telecommunications engineers at NT$1.709 million, lawyers at NT$1.553 million, and professional athletes at NT$1.536 million.
Regarding wage conditions among different job roles, the disparity in salaries between industries is quite pronounced among supervisors and managers. Supervisors in the financial and insurance sectors earn as much as NT$120,000 monthly, while those in the accommodation and catering industry earn only NT$51,000, highlighting the significant impact of industry characteristics on salary levels.
In terms of professional personnel salaries, healthcare and social work services lead with NT$76,000, followed closely by financial and insurance industries at NT$73,000. In contrast, professional personnel in the education sector have a monthly salary of only NT$39,000, which is nearly half of the highest-paying industry.
In industries with the lowest salaries, entry-level technicians and labor workers generally receive low wages, with monthly salaries ranging between NT$29,000 and NT$40,000. Among these, the education, publishing, audiovisual, and information communication sectors have the lowest salaries for entry-level positions, averaging just NT$29,000. Multiple other industries, such as accommodations, catering, and manufacturing, are only slightly higher, around NT$31,000.
The statistical subjects of this survey are full-time employees hired by industrial and service establishments within Taiwan, excluding those in agriculture, forestry, fishing, and livestock farming, government agencies, public and private schools above the primary level, as well as employees hired by religious, professional, and similar organizations. Salary calculations include base salary, fixed allowances, and bonuses, but exclude overtime pay and tax-exempt meal allowances. Annual salaries incorporate all year-end performance bonuses and various allowances, providing the public with comprehensive workplace salary reference information.
