Amazon Launches AWS Cloud Services in Taiwan with NT$150 Billion Data Center Investment

Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced on the 5th its launch of AWS in the Asia-Pacific (Taipei) region, planning to invest over $5 billion (approximately NT$149.8 billion) to support the construction, connection, operation, and maintenance of data centers in Taiwan. According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, the Asia-Pacific region will provide developers, startups, and other businesses with more choices to run applications through AWS data centers in Taiwan, enabling clients like TSMC and Trend Micro to retain content locally.

The report also cited Taiwan's Premier Su Tseng-chang, stating that the official launch of AWS in the Asia-Pacific (Taipei) region showcases Amazon's commitment to Taiwan. Furthermore, AWS plans to recruit and train local employees to operate the data center.
