Dai Nippon's Infringement Case Unfolds, Court Rejects Software Continued Use Request

Dai Nippon, the world's largest manufacturer of high-end smartphone lenses, has been accused of using German company MVTec's image detection software illegally. Although Dai Nippon's chairman, Lin Enping, claimed to have found alternative suppliers and insisted that the lawsuit wouldn't affect production, their request to continue using the software was rejected by the court.
An internal whistleblower reported to the German company that Dai Nippon had cracked the nine purchased licenses for 'HALCON' software and used it on multiple computers. This case has strained relations between Dai Nippon and the German company, with no signs of reconciliation.
Dai Nippon contends it has legally obtained the software rights, arguing that the court's decision will majorly impact its operations and could lead to production delays and harm to its reputation. The German company disputes that Dai Nippon only purchased nine licenses and uses additional copies illegally.
