New Residency Rules for Foreign Professionals: Earn 6 Million TWD and Apply for Permanent Residency After One Year

The Executive Yuan approved the amendment to the "Foreign Professional Talent Recruitment and Employment Act," easing the permanent residency application requirements for foreign professionals. According to the new rules, foreign professionals earning over 6 million NTD can apply for permanent residency after residing in Taiwan for one year. Furthermore, the stay period for digital nomads under the visa has been extended from six months to a maximum of two years.
The National Development Council stated that as global competition for talent intensifies, Taiwan needs to attract foreign professionals to address the challenges of declining birth rates and aging population. The country is actively promoting five key trusted industries, artificial intelligence, and net-zero transformations to increase talent supply.
This new policy aims to expand the range of international talent sources and strengthen Taiwan's competitiveness in the global market.
