Nuclear One Dry Storage Facility Receives Operating License, Continuation of Nuclear Development Plans

The Nuclear One dry storage facility has received its operating license today (1st), marking an important milestone in Taiwan's nuclear development. Under the supervision of the Nuclear Safety Committee, Taipower will gradually move the nuclear fuel from the Nuclear One plant, aiding in the advancement of decommissioning work. The Nuclear Safety Committee will continue to oversee Taipower to ensure the safety of the facility’s operations.
According to the committee, Taipower completed the hot test for the outdoor dry storage facility on December 18 last year and submitted the application for the operating license on January 20 this year. Following a thorough review by a team of experts, the application was confirmed to be complete, leading to the approval of the operating license on April 29.
To ensure transparency, the Nuclear Safety Committee has published the application documents and review results on its website and has established security inspection procedures. The Nuclear One dry storage facility has finally come into operation after 11 years of delays, demonstrating steady progress in nuclear energy policy.
