EU Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic highlighted that the EU remains committed to maintaining a mutually beneficial trade relationship with the U.S. and is prepared to defend its interests, emphasizing that trade should be based on mutual respect rather than threats.

Trump also confirmed the call via social media, stating, 'I am honored to do this,' while announcing that negotiations would begin swiftly. The initially set deadline of July 9 represents a significant response from the Trump administration concerning foreign trade policy.
