Labor Department Launches Six Measures to Mitigate Employment Impact from US Tariffs

In response to the potential employment market impact from US tariffs, the Labor Department has introduced a series of countermeasures. The Executive Yuan has formally approved the "Supply Chain Support Scheme for our Exports in Response to US Tariffs" to protect domestic industries and the labor market.
The Labor Department emphasized that to avoid significant fluctuations in manpower, increased unemployment risks, and difficulties in initial employment for youth, it has devised the "Supporting Workers’ Stable Employment in Response to US Equal Tariff Policies" guiding principles. This includes six major work items: supporting affected enterprises in vocational training, allowing reduced hours workers to engage in training, maintaining employment stability, integrated employment services, encouraging youth to participate in policy-driven industry training, and promoting employment stabilization for first-time job seekers.
The Labor Department stressed that the necessary funding for these measures will be sourced from employment stability funds and other related budgets to ensure assistance to workers is timely and uninterrupted. These six measures are tailored to different age groups and labor conditions, ensuring comprehensive support for workforce stability.
