Taiwan Power Company Sees Over 1,000 Positions Open, Attracts Nearly 12,000 Applicants

The Taiwan Power Company (TPC) held its annual recruitment exam today across the nation, offering 1,084 positions primarily for frontline personnel in distribution, transmission, and substations across 15 categories. With a top salary nearing NT$40,000, the exam attracted almost 12,000 applicants, though only 6,882 actually took the test, resulting in an acceptance rate of 15.75%. This year's exam took place simultaneously in 11 locations including Taipei, Taichung, Kaohsiung, and Hualien.
TPC spokesperson Tsai Chih-Meng noted that the eligibility criteria are not high, as only a high school diploma is required. He indicated that the relatively low attendance rate of 57.4% could be attributed to the increase in job vacancies in the country, providing candidates with more options. TPC is under financial pressure and hopes the Legislative Yuan will quickly approve a NT$100 billion bailout to avoid potential electricity price hikes in the future.
