Taiwan Power Company Sees 1.2 Million Candidates in Recruitment Exam with 57.4% Attendance Rate, Highest in Four Years

The recruitment exam for new personnel at Taiwan Power Company for 2025 was held simultaneously on the 4th across four testing areas in northern, central, southern, and eastern Taiwan, attracting 12,000 candidates. Candidate Mr. Yang expressed, "Given the instability in the external economy, I thought it would be better to seek a more stable job." Another candidate, Mr. He, stated, "I felt good during the exam; my preparation focused on electrical engineering and physics."

This exam saw a total of 1,084 positions available, with 6,882 candidates actually attending, resulting in an attendance rate of 57.4%, the highest in four years, while the passing rate rose to 15.75%. The category with the most vacancies was for distribution line maintenance, with 489 positions expected to be filled, while 1,800 candidates applied.

However, candidates expressed concerns about recent issues regarding power supply and protests from Taiwan Power Company employees. One candidate remarked, "It's going to be tough; we have to manage the difficulties, especially for us frontline workers." Spokesperson Tsai Chih-Meng confirmed that regular electrical technicians could see salaries approaching NT$40,000 per month. In addition, starting this year (2025), the starting salary for new recruits will be increased from NT$32,000 to NT$36,000, with eligible technical personnel possibly earning up to NT$39,000, aiming to retain stable employment opportunities.
