Trump's Middle East Visit Sparks Chip Negotiations, Nvidia Stock Soars

US President Donald Trump plans to visit the UAE from May 13 to 16, focusing on discussing AI chip export restrictions. According to insiders, a key agenda item is negotiating a chip agreement with the UAE, particularly to ease US export limits on AI chips for the nation, paving the way for technological cooperation.
The US government is currently debating the soon-to-be-implemented 'AI dissemination rules,' which restrict AI chip exports to about 100 countries, including the UAE. Nvidia's stock soared over 5% on the news of potential easing of export limits. Trump questioned why, if the US allows the UAE to purchase F-35 fighter jets, it still restricts their access to advanced chips. This comment came after Trump's meeting with the UAE's national security advisor.
The UAE announced plans to invest $1.4 trillion in the US over the next decade, prompting the US to reassess its export limits. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has called for changes in export regulations to allow US companies to expand overseas and compete against China. Trump responded positively to Huang's comments, stating that he is a patriot and proud of the country.
