Hsieh Chin-ho Critiques The Economist: A Dangerous Addiction to Manipulating Taiwan's Emotions

Finance Center / Reported by Shih Jui-te
The latest issue of The Economist features Taiwan on its cover with the theme 'The Taiwan Test', warning of risks in the Taiwan Strait. Hsieh Chin-ho, chairman of the finance group, stated in an interview that The Economist's sensational coverage of Taiwan's crisis has become an addiction, not the first time such manipulation has occurred. He asserted that earlier reports suggest a decline in U.S. deterrence, which may lead China to expedite the resolution of the Taiwan issue. Hsieh criticized The Economist for selectively omitting the internal issues of the Chinese military and stressed that Taiwan is not as fragile as the reports suggest. He urged society to view international opinion rationally to avoid unnecessary panic.
