Tax Season Brings Salary Increases! Wiwatrong and AUO Hike Wages Over 5%

The tax season in May brings financial pressure to many office workers, but the technology sector is providing hope with salary increases. Major tech firms like TSMC, AUO, Wiwatrong, and World Advanced are announcing salary adjustment plans that not only benefit entry-level employees but also set new record high starting salaries for fresh graduates, lifting the morale across the industry.
As TSMC continues to expand its operations, demand for talent is on the rise, leading to salary hikes. The starting salary for master's degree fresh graduates has risen to NT$65,130, an increase of NT$1,230 compared to last year, while those with an associate degree see starting salaries exceeding NT$40,000, reflecting an increase of NT$800 year-on-year. The average salary increase for all employees ranges from 3% to 5%.
According to reporter Liu Ying-Ying from ETtoday, many TSMC employees view year-end bonuses as a key indicator as well. Last year, TSMC's average bonus exceeded NT$1 million, offering strong incentives for employees.
Referred to as "partners", the panel manufacturer AUO has also sweetened the deal for its employees. Reportedly, the salary hike can reach as high as 5.8%, with some employees achieving this after just four years in the company. Others noted that although bonuses were lower, the wage increase of over 3% had exceeded inflation, providing real benefits to workers. A worker shared, "Salary adjustments happen every year. Although bonuses have decreased, the salary increase exceeds 3%, which feels like keeping up with inflation and is highly praised as part of this salary hike trend."
Another company, Wiwatrong, planning to set up a factory in the U.S., has salary hikes that vary depending on rank and years of service, ranging from 5% to 13.5%. For example, employees at grade 8 with two years of experience receive a 9% raise, while those at grade 11 with eight years of service can enjoy a salary increase of 13%. World Advanced, a wafer foundry, has also joined the salary adjustment trend, with salary increases around 5%. Many citizens express the desire for salary increases of 10% to cope with rising living costs.
Through substantial salary increases, companies are enhancing employee morale and allowing those striving in the workplace to feel their value is recognized.
