Treasury Secretary Claims No Need to Revive Textile Industry; Industry Responds: We Created 470,000 Jobs

U.S. Treasury Secretary Benson recently stated that "the U.S. does not need the textile industry to thrive again," provoking strong backlash from the American Textile Organization.
The organization highlighted that the U.S. textile industry produced over 8,000 products for the military last year, providing more than 470,000 jobs and emphasized the industry's strategic importance should not be overlooked. Benson mentioned that Trump is focused on future job opportunities rather than past industry forms.
Benson, hailing from South Carolina, indicated that he does not seek a revival of the textile industry but aims to rejuvenate precision manufacturing.
The American Textile Organization's board chair, Kimberly Glas, expressed deep disappointment in Benson's remarks, stating that the textile industry should not be ignored amid competition benefitting from China’s unfair trade policies.
