Lai Ching-te Advocates Wage Increases and Tax Cuts to Enhance Labor Rights

On this International Workers' Day, President Lai Ching-te reiterated the importance of enhancing labor rights by promoting wage increases and tax cuts. In a social media post, he expressed gratitude to all workers across various sectors for their expertise and their contributions to Taiwan's vitality. He mentioned that in the future, efforts will focus on improving labor standards, vocational training, and labor-management cooperation to encourage wage increases and enhance disposable income for workers.

President Lai also announced an increase in the tax exemption threshold, allowing single individuals earning less than NT$446,000 annually to be exempt from taxes. Additionally, in response to U.S. tariff policies, the administration has approved a special bill to allocate NT$410 billion for supporting industry development, stabilizing the job market, and caring for livelihoods.
