Average Household Net Worth Reaches NT$18.89 Million in 2023, But Many Feel No Impact

The National Statistical Office announced yesterday the "Household Wealth Statistics" for 2023. The report shows that while Taiwan's national assets have increased, many citizens feel no impact. According to the office, the stock market surged by 26.83% in 2023, and with the central bank's interest rate hikes, the average household net worth reached NT$18.89 million, an increase of NT$1.16 million compared to the previous year.
However, a street survey revealed that most citizens do not feel a tangible improvement, and experts noted that inflationary pressures still persist. Additionally, with frequent policy changes expected in 2025, predicting the economic outlook for the second half of the year is likely to be even more challenging.
