Taiwan's Average Salary Surpasses 560,000 TWD in 2024, Expert Reveals Harsh Reality

According to data from the 'Bixinyue' platform, the average salary in Taiwan has exceeded 560,000 TWD in 2024, representing a 2.7% increase from the previous year. However, experts point out that behind this figure lies a harsh reality, particularly with the significant income decline in non-tech industries. They emphasize that when excluding the high-income technology sector, average salaries in other industries have actually dropped by 2.1%.
A finance expert known as 'Daniel' on social media highlighted that the salary growth is largely reliant on a few high-earning sectors, while the majority of workers face stagnant or declining incomes. Traditional industries and service sectors are lagging despite overall economic recovery, with many individuals still struggling.
He also noted that for most middle-aged individuals over 40, switching careers is not just an option but a high-stakes gamble. These individuals carry family responsibilities, and the evolving job market makes it crucial to consider limitations related to time and resources, placing them in increasingly difficult circumstances.
