Labor Department Statistics: Median Salary of University Graduates at NT$33,000, Four Sectors Perform Well

The latest statistics released by the Labor Department show that the median salary for university graduates in Taiwan is NT$33,000. This figure is the same for polytechnic graduates, while those with a master's degree earn a median of NT$49,000. The average salary is NT$37,000, marking a 6.4% annual increase.
The Labor Department notes that last year, 91.2% of newly employed individuals held at least a university degree, with 18.7% earning the minimum wage (NT$27,470). In terms of sectors, the healthcare and social welfare field offers the highest average salary of NT$40,000, followed by education at NT$39,000 and finance and insurance at NT$38,000.
The healthcare and social welfare sector attracts many university graduates, with women making up 57.8% of last year's new hires, while men comprised 59.6% at the master's level. Furthermore, nearly 80% of the new hires from 2023 remained employed by December, with average salaries significantly up from the previous year.
