CPC Announces No Change in Gas Prices, Diesel Price Increases by 0.2 TWD

The Central Petroleum Corporation (CPC) of Taiwan announced today (27) that starting tomorrow (28) at midnight, there will be no change in gasoline prices, whereas diesel prices will increase by 0.2 TWD. The reference retail prices are as follows: 92 unleaded gasoline at 28.3 TWD per liter, 95 unleaded gasoline at 29.8 TWD per liter, 98 unleaded gasoline at 31.8 TWD per liter, and super diesel at 27.1 TWD per liter.

The CPC explained that this week, indications of easing high tariffs proposed by the United States on major countries have led to rising international oil prices. According to the floating oil price adjustment principle, the 7D3B weekly average price has risen by 1.04 USD, with the TWD appreciating by 0.036 against the USD, reflecting a 1.15% increase. By the floating oil price adjustment mechanism, both gasoline and diesel prices should rise by 0.2 TWD each; however, to keep prices below those of neighboring Asian countries (Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore), gasoline will absorb the 0.2 TWD increase. After calculations, the price of 95 unleaded gasoline is below 30 TWD, not reaching the threshold to trigger stabilizing measures; thus, domestic gasoline prices remain unchanged while diesel prices increase by 0.2 TWD.
