Lin Bai-li Celebrates Quanta's 37th Anniversary: Global Strategy Like a 'Master Chef', Unafraid of Trump's Tariffs

Quanta Computer celebrated its 37th anniversary today (26th) with chairman Lin Bai-li personally in attendance. In response to concerns about former US President Trump's tariff policies, Lin likened Quanta to a 'master chef', emphasizing their global presence with nine factories and demonstrating remarkable resilience and adaptability in the face of change.

Lin humorously noted that Taiwan's IT supply chain is difficult to replicate and that Quanta's nimble responses allow them to confidently tackle global market challenges. He mentioned that Quanta currently has nine production bases worldwide to mitigate risks.

On the topic of AI, Lin was full of ambition, stating that the development of AI is still in its early stages and that several significant advancements lie ahead, including AI servers, automotive technology, and low-orbit satellite communications, all with considerable growth potential. He revealed that Quanta is currently developing higher-performance GB200 and GB300 servers and plans to launch a new generation of products that will improve performance by tenfold within the next two years.

Not satisfied with merely being an OEM, Lin announced that Quanta will fully invest in independent research and development while actively promoting innovation. He emphasized, 'We cannot always be a worm; we must become a butterfly,' indicating Quanta's transition towards higher value-added operations. Initially planning to retire at 80, Lin disclosed that as the business continues to expand and his sense of mission around AI grows, his retirement schedule may be delayed.

He humorously noted that as business improves and he feels healthier, his ambition grows stronger: 'In the world, one does not have total freedom.' As international political and economic landscapes shift, Quanta continues to leverage its global presence and independent R&D as dual engines, showcasing its ambitions for the new era.
