Employees of Largan Precision and Advanced Optical Involved in Insider Trading Case

Employees of Largan Precision and Advanced Optical are suspected of being involved in insider trading, with 4 individuals released on bail and 6 others released without charges. (Image: Taichung District Prosecutors Office) The Taichung District Prosecutors Office is investigating allegations of insider trading involving employees from Largan Precision and Advanced Optical. Yesterday, the prosecutors conducted searches and summoned 10 individuals for questioning. Subsequently, charges were filed against several individuals under the Securities and Exchange Act for insider trading. Largan's manager, known as Yao, was released on bail of NT$500,000, while an employee from Advanced Optical, referred to as Yang, was released on NT$150,000 bail. Two external individuals, identified as Lu and Liao, were also released on bail of NT$500,000 and NT$150,000, respectively, while the remaining 6 individuals were released without charges.
According to the Taichung District Prosecutors Office, since the year 2021, employees of both companies have allegedly engaged in stock trading of Advanced Optical during the prohibited trading period after being informed of significant news before the information was publicly disclosed. Yesterday, the Taichung District Prosecutors Office directed the investigation bureau to execute the search and summon 10 individuals. After overnight questioning, prosecutors determined that certain defendants were suspected of violating the Securities and Exchange Act. Following this, both Largan and Advanced Optical issued statements indicating their full cooperation with the Ministry of Justice's investigation bureau. Largan emphasized that the investigation is unrelated to the company's operations and will not impact its business and financial status, while Advanced Optical also stated that its financial and business operations remain unaffected.
