Job Opportunities in Arizona: TSMC's Investment Bringing High-Paying Positions

According to anchor Liu Pin-wei in Taipei, TSMC's investment in the United States has created numerous job opportunities. Recently, a netizen shared their experience of transitioning to a job in Arizona from last year, where they were hired as a power systems contractor for TSMC, mainly working in a cleanroom from 8 AM to 5 PM.

The user revealed that the pay is quite generous, as they are on an hourly wage system without pay for no work. However, if they work overtime, their weekly income can reach up to $3,100, and even without overtime, they can earn $1,800 a week, which converts to approximately NT$200,000 to NT$350,000 per month.

The netizen emphasized that they are sharing their experience not to show off but rather to provide references for others who wish to work abroad. They also mentioned that TSMC has plans to build five more factories in the U.S., predicting that such opportunities will last for about ten years, and once the entire TSMC complex is completed, they might consider retirement.

This post has sparked lively discussions among netizens, leading many to contemplate changing jobs and exploring opportunities abroad. However, experts from the human resources sector remind applicants to carefully evaluate such job offers before applying, as high salaries do not guarantee long-term security. It's crucial to confirm the contract duration and the chances for renewal. Additionally, the cost of living in the U.S. is much higher than in Taiwan, meaning that earning more doesn't necessarily equate to saving money. It's also important to note that many contractors use short-term work visas, raising concerns about whether one can continue working in the U.S. after their contract ends and whether they can smoothly return to the Taiwanese job market.
