Boeing Confirms China Stops Receiving Aircraft, Plans to Resell to Other Airlines

Boeing has recently fallen victim to the new round of tariff trade war between the US and China, with reports stating that the Chinese government has ordered its airlines to stop receiving Boeing aircraft. Several Boeing 737 MAX planes, originally scheduled for delivery to Xiamen Airlines in China, have reportedly returned to Boeing's facility in Seattle.

Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg confirmed in a recent interview that several 737 Max planes intended for China have returned to the US and may be resold to airlines in other countries. He mentioned that due to the tariff environment, China has ceased taking delivery of aircraft, and many customers are seeking to purchase the Max planes. Boeing does not intend to let the US-China tariff trade war disrupt its recovery plans.

In addition, Boeing’s first-quarter financial report showed that its losses were lower than expected, and cash consumption was also not as concerning as analysts had feared, as the company’s aircraft deliveries increased significantly over the three months ending March 31.
