Japan Expresses Discontent with US Trade Policy: Challenges in Global Economic Blockade Against China

Trump is pressuring countries to negotiate with the US through reciprocal tariffs while imposing restrictions on trade with China. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce has opposed this and indicated that it will take countermeasures against countries that compromise. This shows that other nations are facing increasing pressure to 'choose sides'.
Reports indicate that Trump is requesting countries to reduce trade with China and limit imports of Chinese goods, which could weaken manufacturing capabilities. Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba stated in an interview that Japan will not include security issues in trade negotiations and stressed the importance of free trade, which stands in contrast to Trump’s protectionism.
Furthermore, America’s attempts to encourage countries to restrict trade with China may face greater challenges as many nations are major trading partners of China. Of the 198 countries globally, China is the largest trading partner for 128 countries, suggesting that the US may encounter difficulties when forcing a choice.
