AI Demand Fuels Record Global Chip Equipment Sales; Taiwan Surges by 200%

According to recent statistics from the Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI) and the Semiconductor Equipment Association of Japan (SEAJ), global semiconductor manufacturing equipment sales reached $32.05 billion in Q1 2025, marking a 21% increase year-over-year and achieving the second-highest record in history. This marks the fourth consecutive quarter of sales growth, with increases above 10%.

Despite a significant decline of 18% in China's sales, which dropped to $10.26 billion, Taiwan's market saw an impressive growth of 203%, reaching $7.09 billion. North America and South Korea also experienced remarkable growth, with increases of 55% and 48%, respectively. SEMI CEO Ajit Manocha stated that the demand from AI will continue to drive wafer fab expansions and equipment sales.
