Female Student Falls Victim to Scam in Cambodia, Works 15-Hour Days
A female student from Taichung, identified as Li, fell victim to a scam while trying to help her family's finances. She and a friend were misled into applying for overseas jobs and ended up in a scam operation in Cambodia, where they were held captive for 85 days. Li recalled working up to 15 hours a day, claiming the work involved designing fraudulent job ads for social media. Ultimately rescued by police, she returned to Taiwan on June 7 and expressed gratitude for the support from the community.
