Projected Semiconductor Tariffs at 20%: Li Yongnian Indicates TSMC Shares may Fluctuate around 1000 TWD

On the 8th, the UK and US President Trump announced a trade agreement, becoming the first country to complete negotiations with the US. Analyst Li Yongnian stated on the online program Financial Essentials that the 10% tariff on the UK acts as Trump's 'floor price,' and he forecasts that semiconductor tariffs will be around 20%.
Li further explained that Trump's urgency in signing the agreement with the UK stems from the need to set tariffs' upper and lower limits. He believes that while an estimated semiconductor tariff of 20% or 25% might be seen as a positive by the market, it is still higher than current rates.
Regarding TSMC, he mentioned an EPS of 45 TWD for 2024, adding that the semiconductor tariffs could erode profit margins by 3% to 4%, leading to a slight decrease in EPS. Li indicated that TSMC's stock price is likely to fluctuate around 1000 TWD and suggested that 900 TWD could be a good buying point, while 800 TWD should be purchased without hesitation.
