Expansion of Jinghua City Case: 22 Individuals Including Former and Current Sinopec Chairpersons and Economist Under Investigation

The Taipei District Prosecutors Office has initiated a large-scale investigation into the Jinghua City transaction scandal, summoning 22 individuals including former and current chairpersons of Sinopec on the 26th. Following overnight questioning, former chairperson Lin Keming was released on bail of NT$5 million, current chairperson Chen Ruillon on NT$2 million, and former Dingyue Development chairperson Zhu Yahu on NT$1 million. Economist Zhu Yunpeng is also involved in the case.
Investigators have found that Dingyue Development Company, a subsidiary of Weijing Group, won a bid for the Jinghua City land in 2019 for NT$37.2 billion, which is NT$3 billion above the base price, suggesting a potential non-standard transaction. The authorities will delve into the pricing and decision-making processes regarding the land deal.
