Taiwanese Firms Predict TWD Might Rise to 28

A survey conducted by the Taiwan Stock Exchange Association indicates insights from over a hundred CEOs and board chairpersons regarding Taiwan-U.S. trade relations and currency forecasts. Most respondents believe that U.S.-Taiwan tariff negotiations will result in an agreement by the third or fourth quarter, with anticipated tariffs hovering around 20%.

The report highlights the pressure Taiwanese firms face under Trump's global equivalent tariff policy, with nearly all executive responses predicting U.S. tariffs on Taiwan will fall within the 15% to 25% range.

Regarding exchange rates, a significant number of respondents expect the new Taiwan dollar (TWD) to fluctuate between 28 and 30, with 25% suggesting TWD could appreciate below 28. The survey encompassed various sectors, including electronics, traditional manufacturing, finance, and biotech, reflecting a trend of diverse global market strategies among responding firms.
