Nearly 50% of Gen Z Graduates Consider Part-Time Jobs Over Full-Time

According to a survey by 1111 Job Bank, about 66% of Gen Z graduates plan to enter the workforce after graduation, with nearly half considering part-time jobs instead of full-time positions. This year's crop of graduates has raised its salary expectations significantly to 38,317 TWD, approaching the 40,000 TWD mark.
The survey revealed that 40.9% of graduates have already secured employment, while 30.6% are submitting their resumes, and only 5.6% have not yet started the job search process. Notably, almost 50% prefer part-time work for reasons such as flexible working hours (54.5%), not wanting to be overworked (40%), and higher hourly wages (32.7%).
According to spokesperson Tseng Chung-wei, the consistent increase in minimum wage coupled with labor shortages in the industry has pressured employers to raise salaries. Currently, nearly 150,000 part-time job opportunities are available on the 1111 Job Bank database, making it friendly for those seeking side jobs.
