Trump Criticizes Powell Again, Taiwan Stocks Drop Over 100 Points

According to the financial center report, Taiwan's stock market today (22nd) opened lower, influenced by the significant drop in US stocks. Sector performances were weak overall, with the rubber sector leading the decline at 3.27%. Other defensive sectors such as home, finance, and textiles also experienced losses. While sectors like green energy, electronic communications, and electronic components showed slight gains, they were insufficient to lift overall market sentiment.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (2330) opened down 10 TWD at 825 TWD, a drop of 1.2%. Continued foreign selling pressure has affected TSMC and other electronic stocks. U.S. President Trump has once again targeted Fed Chair Powell, stirring market confidence.
Yongfeng Investment Advisors stated that although Taiwan's stock market is currently in a correction phase, there may still be a chance of recovery if the U.S. market stabilizes. Investors are advised to shift focus to defensive stocks to mitigate systemic risk.
