Amazon's AI-Driven Alexa+ Hits 100,000 Users, More Features Coming Soon

Amazon recently announced its Q1 2025 financial results, with revenue reaching $155.67 billion, a 9% increase year-over-year, and a net income of $17.127 billion, marking a 64% growth. The majority of revenue still comes from e-commerce sales, which totaled $57.47 billion, up 5% from the previous year. Revenue from third-party seller services reached $36.512 billion, a 6% growth, while advertising service revenue was $13.921 billion, showing an 18% increase. Prime subscription services garnered $11.715 billion, a growth of 9%, and AWS revenue stood at $29.267 billion, growing by 17%.
Looking ahead to the next quarter, Amazon estimates revenue will range between $159 billion and $164 billion, with net profit expected between $13 billion and $17.5 billion; however, these figures may be affected by tariffs and other trade policies. Previously, reports emerged that Amazon planned to display tariff amounts in its e-commerce services, drawing criticism from the Trump administration, which claimed this could create a hostile environment between the public and the government. Amazon subsequently clarified that it would not mark tariff amounts in its services.
CEO Andy Jassy also mentioned that the recently launched upgraded digital assistant, Alexa+, has now accumulated over 100,000 users, indicating strong interest in the service. Moreover, Amazon plans to gradually roll out the Alexa+ service, suggesting that the number of subscribers will continue to grow. However, regarding some features of Alexa+ demonstrated back in February that have yet to be released, Andy Jassy explained that more functionalities will be added in the coming months, aiming for the AI capabilities of Alexa+ to achieve an accuracy rate of over 90%, which is a significant improvement compared to the current 30%-60% accuracy range.
