Taiwan's Average Salary Rises to 560K, Unveiling the Harsh Reality of Growth

According to data from the salary inquiry platform '比薪水', Taiwan's average annual salary was NT$560,526 last year, an increase of 2.7% compared to 2023. However, financial analyst '股人阿勳' points out that for most people, salaries have not truly grown, and the only noticeable increase is due to 'inflation.'

'股人阿勳' expressed on Facebook that while the technology sector supports the economy, many others, such as traditional industries, service sectors, and cultural education, are struggling. He noted that the average salary for 2024 is expected to be 2.1% lower than that of 2023 when excluding the tech sector.

He compared this situation to a classroom where only a few top students inflate the average score, while others are merely trying to maintain enough grades to pass. For many middle-aged individuals, particularly those in their 40s with financial obligations and limited time or resources for career change, switching careers is not a viable option but a gamble for survival.

Ultimately, he warned not to forget that while Taiwan's economy may be growing, the future is bleak for many others.
