US Stock Indices Surge with Semiconductor Index Jumping 165 Points; Nvidia and TSMC ADRs Rise Over 2%

US President Donald Trump plans to grant exemptions on some tariffs for automakers and acknowledged that the 145% tariffs on China are too high, indicating that tariffs could be reduced if an agreement is reached with China. On Thursday (24th), after about half an hour into the trading session, all major indices except the Dow Jones showed gains. The Philadelphia semiconductor index rose by 165.88 points, up 4.16%.
The Dow Jones dropped by 6.43 points, down 0.02%, settling at 39,600.14 points; the S&P 500 index gained 35.16 points, up 0.65%, at 5,411.02 points; the Nasdaq composite index saw an increase of 210.23 points, up 1.26%, ending at 16,918.28 points. Among individual stocks, Nvidia (NVDA) rose by 2.04%, priced at $104.81; Google (GOOGL) was up 1.59%, priced at $160.23; Apple rose 0.50%, bringing its price to $205.62; TSMC ADR also increased by 2.17%, priced at $161.23.
