In the Face of Tariff Wars and Chip Restrictions, Jensen Huang's Visit to Beijing is Seen as a Bold Move in Tech Industry

As the U.S.-China tariff war escalates and the U.S. government announces indefinite export restrictions on NVIDIA's specific chips, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang visited Beijing on the 17th. Departing from his signature black leather jacket, Huang appeared in a suit, capturing the media's attention. Former National Security Council deputy secretary-general Yang Yongming commented in a political talk show that Huang's visit to Beijing at this sensitive time is a sign of bravery in the tech industry.

Yang pointed out that China imported $250 billion worth of goods from the U.S. last year, many of which were intentionally purchased to maintain trade balance, including agricultural and energy products. With Trump intensifying the tariff battle, China's purchases from the U.S. may decline but could pivot to trade with Brazil and the EU.

He stressed that the globalization of technology and markets cannot be severed, highlighting Huang's visit as a representation of this reality.
