Taiwan Stock Market Surges 845 Points, Second-Largest Gain in History

The Taiwan stock market saw a significant surge today (27th), jumping higher after an initial gap up, closing at its peak of 19639 points, up 845 points. This marks the second-largest single-day point gain in history, following the 1608 points recorded on April 10. Today’s trading volume reached 269.1 billion NTD, successfully regaining the 5 and 10-day moving averages. The OTC index also rebounded, closing at 211.5 points, up 7.82 points, a gain of 3.84%.

In terms of electronic blue-chip stocks, TSMC (2330) closed at 873 NTD, gaining 57 NTD, a rise of 6.99%; Hon Hai (2317) closed at 139 NTD, up 7 NTD, a 5.3% increase; MediaTek (2454) finished at 1370 NTD, gaining 70 NTD, a 5.38% rise; and Quanta Computer (2382) closed at 235 NTD, up 11.5 NTD, a 5.15% increase.

Today, 1127 listed companies and 965 OTC companies saw stock prices rise, with 29 and 31 companies hitting the limit-up respectively, totaling 2092 rising stocks and 60 limit-up stocks. The only stock that fell today was the previously strong Golden Mighty (8390), which corrected in response to the rising gold prices, closing at 67.5 NTD, down 7.5 NTD.
