Wu Tien-Yu, CEO of ASE, Elected as SEMI International Chairman

On December 12, the International Semiconductor Industry Association (SEMI) announced that Wu Tien-Yu, CEO of ASE, has been elected as the new chairman, with Benjamin Loh, chairman of Comet AG, serving as the new vice chairman. This personnel change takes immediate effect. Both leaders will guide the SEMI International Board in advancing the association's global operations and service development to support industry growth.
SEMI President Ajit Manocha congratulated both on their election and expressed anticipation to collaborate with them in their new roles. They have demonstrated a passion for addressing global semiconductor industry challenges and accelerating its growth while serving on the board.
Dr. Wu is a board member and group COO of ASE. Before joining ASE, he held various positions at IBM, contributing to research, manufacturing, and sales across the U.S., Europe, and Asia-Pacific. He has been elected a member of the National Academy of Engineering for his contributions to sustainable electronic manufacturing and advancements in semiconductor packaging. Dr. Wu holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from National Taiwan University, and both a master's and a doctorate in mechanical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. Loh most recently served as chairman, president, and CEO of ASM International and is a non-executive director at ASMPT.
Dr. Wu will also assume the role of chairman of the SEMI Foundation Board, which promotes SEMI's talent development program.
