The well-known bar 'Sister Bar' in Xinyi District has faced backlash after its sister brand 'JU' reportedly underpaid staff without warning. The official JU account issued a public apology, explaining that the company is facing continual monthly losses, and that owners have resorted to borrowing from loan sharks, unable to cover payroll.
While urging consumers to support, many netizens expressed disbelief, stating, 'You profit while we bear the losses?' An employee reported on social media that JU withheld 20% of March's salary and attempted to use staff wages for company operations. They warned, 'You can sue me; I have no assets to seize.'
The JU official account explained they do not wish to withhold wages but are forced to due to financial struggles, emphasizing they do not want to harm employees.
