Labor Department Unveils Six Worker Protection Plans Amid Trump Tariff Impacts

In response to the potential impact of U.S. tariffs on Taiwan's industries and job market, the Executive Yuan has officially approved the "Export Supply Chain Support Plan in Response to U.S. Tariffs". The Ministry of Labor has promptly initiated six key employment stability measures aimed at assisting youth, older unemployed workers, and those affected by reduced work hours.
The Ministry stated that to prevent significant fluctuations in workforce demand, rising unemployment risks, and difficulties for youth entering the job market, it has drafted the "Key Points to Support Labor Stability in Response to U.S. Equivalent Tariff Policies." The six planned measures include: 1. Supporting affected businesses in providing vocational training; 2. Allowing workers on reduced hours to participate in approved training courses; 3. Maintaining job stability; 4. Providing integrated employment services; 5. Encouraging youth to participate in industry training programs; 6. Providing stabilizing employment support for first-time job seekers.
The government will flexibly allocate funds needed for these initiatives to ensure that assistance to workers is uninterrupted and timely.
